Meet our program associate - Sarah Fuller. Sarah is a writer and marketing enthusiast with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a master’s degree in publishing. During her master’s program, she dove headfirst into learning the fascinating process of publishing a book, from the very first step of acquiring a manuscript all the way to the final act of selling copies to booksellers. Sarah interned at two Boston-based independent publishers—Barefoot Books and Beacon Press—where she was involved in marketing and sales activities. Her ability to write for dynamic audiences has translated to the varied roles she has undertaken, where she has written for social media, newspapers, websites, and more.
Sarah was once described as “worldly” by a friend, and while she felt uncertain about the remark at the time, she is now confident that it rings true. While Sarah grew up in Dubai (and spent her summers in Kerala), she has lived in bustling cities like Bengaluru and Boston over the last few years, pursuing her higher studies and engaging in part-time jobs. From positions such as IT assistant to bookseller, she acquired a unique set of skills. Sarah has visited over 20 countries, including Spain, Italy, Portugal, Scotland, Kenya, New Zealand, Jordan, Turkey, and Serbia, to name a few. She owes it to her parents, who planned and executed family trips each year. Sarah believes that the unique experiences that come with traveling and living away from home have shaped her identity, making her adaptable to different cultures and environments.
Having returned to Dubai this summer, she is eager to find new things to love about the city. “I have felt somewhat out of place since being back, so I’m hoping to immerse myself in different hobbies and events to gain a new perspective.” Working at Kutubna has shown her that Dubai does not fall short of art and culture, and for that, she remains grateful. When she isn’t writing about the latest event or leading writing groups at Kutubna, she is a homebody who enjoys reading, cooking, and rewatching Gilmore Girls for the millionth time. You may also find her walking in a park or people-watching whilst nestled in the corner of a coffee shop.
