About the Workshop
A beginner-friendly, community-centred poetry workshop exploring themes of social justice and solidarity. Participants will read and discuss works by poets addressing equality and marginalized voices, then use these as inspiration for their own writing through generative prompts. The focus will be on the creative process rather than critique. Open to all, the session invites curiosity and care, and upholds a strict no-tolerance policy for any form of bigotry or disrespect towards participants, staff, or the workshop content

Facilitator
Waahiba Siddiqui is a passionate and purpose-driven Social Work student at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), with a background in International Development Studies, Economics, and Indigenous Studies from McGill University. Her work spans refugee resettlement, feminist organizing, and education support. As a prominent executive team member of the McSway Poetry Collective, McGill's one-and-only English language poetry club and community, she has had the opportunity to lead poetry sessions centring voice, vulnerability, and collective reflection. Passionate about social justice, care work and community-centred learning, she looks forward to growing and writing together with participants in this space, and is grateful to Kutubna for the opportunity to do so.
