Open Call for Artists: Dimensions Exhibition

Submission Deadline: November 16, 2026
Exhibition Dates: Saturday, December 14, 2026 - Sunday, January 31, 2027

Kutubna Cultural Center invites artists of all ages and nationalities residing anywhere in the world to submit their artworks for an upcoming group exhibition titled Dimensions.

The exhibition will bring together artworks in a variety of themes, sizes, and styles. Artists are invited to submit works that match specific dimensions.

Poetry Workshop with Nathalie Handal

Paint & Learn Arab Art History

Thursday, November 12, 19 and 26, 2026 | 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Age Group: All ages (2+ years)
Price: 70 AED

In these painting workshops participants learn about art history and discover techniques and styles of one artist per session. Taking inspiration from these artists, they create their own original artworks with guidance from the workshop leader. Emphasis is on creativity and playfulness, not on creating exact copies.

Arabic singing workshop

Age Group: Adults

This adult Arabic singing workshop is designed for beginners and curious adults with no prior experience. In a calm, structured small group, participants learn the essential maqamat of Arabic music through the voice: core breathing and vocal-placement exercises, how each maqam feels and moves, and well-known songs that bring those maqamat to life. Sessions can run as an 8-meeting series (about 40 minutes each) or as a one-off taster, and the pace is adjusted to the group.

Reading Islam’s History: Explorations in Scholarship Discussion of the book Islam: A New History by John Tolan

This discussion group is for people with different relationships to Islam: people who want to learn about the history of Islam for the first time, people who grew up in the faith and studied its history in school, and scholars who research its history as part of their training and work.

A Way Through: Archive of Resilience Opening Night

A Way Through: Archive of Resilience is an exhibition born out of the question: How will this time be remembered and who will tell the stories of the people who live here? The exhibition is one of the outcomes of Kutubna’s initiative Documenting Culture in the Gulf in a Time of War, an oral history project centring the experiences of diverse people living in the Khaleej.
