About The Exhibition
This exhibition presents a three-part showcase that bridges tradition and contemporary expression through material, form, and narrative.
At its core is the Tubes Collection, a series of sculptural works known for their striking presence and exploration of rhythm, identity, and cultural resonance. Alongside it, the Fiq Collection introduces softer, more meditative gestures through fluid textile compositions crafted from natural fibers, including the distinctive Fiq fiber. These pieces embody a quiet, organic movement that invites introspection.
Making its exclusive debut is the Reimagining Al Sadu Collection, a thoughtful reinterpretation of local heritage. Through material exploration and abstract gesture, this new body of work pays homage to the region’s textile traditions while offering a fresh visual language.
Together, these three collections create a layered and dynamic conversation between regional memory and global sensibility , an invitation to explore how tradition continues to evolve through the lens of contemporary craftsmanship.
About the Artist
Cris Martins (b. 1978, Brazil) is an artist with a deep passion for natural fibers, transforming them into artworks that blend rustic charm with refined elegance. Using materials such as twine, wood, jute, and ramie, her work is a delicate fusion of craftsmanship and intuition, guided by an appreciation for organic forms and the quiet beauty of nature.
Her creative inspiration draws from a range of cultures. The strength and spirit of African traditions influence her work, often reflected in the names of her pieces, which pay homage to the resilience and vibrancy of African tribes. At the same time, her deepening connection to the Arab world brings a new dimension to her practice. Influenced by the region’s aesthetics, symbolism, and reverence for artisanal heritage, her recent works echo the poetic restraint and intricate beauty found in Arabic craft.
With a growing audience from the Arab world, Cris is committed to creating pieces that resonate with their cultural sensibilities, offering a visual language that feels both timeless and personal.
We look forward to welcoming you.
