From Idea to Image: Exploring Illustration with Bassent Dawoud

How can an idea, feeling, or story become an image?

In this three-hour workshop, participants will explore the creative process behind illustration, from developing an initial idea to creating a final visual image. Through a combination of discussion, visual references, and hands-on exercises, participants will experiment with observation, imagination, visual storytelling, and different approaches to creating images.

The workshop is designed for teenagers and adults interested in illustration, drawing, visual storytelling, or simply exploring their own creative expression. No previous professional experience is required.

Bassent Dawoud is an Egyptian visual artist, illustrator, and art director specializing in children’s book illustration and visual storytelling. She has illustrated more than 45 books and has worked across a range of artistic techniques, collage, mixed media, printmaking, and digital illustration.

Bassent has received several international awards including The International award for Arabic Children’s Literature in the Poetry category, Her work has also been shortlisted and exhibited internationally.
