About the Workshop
What does it mean to depict a woman? And what does it mean to become her?
As part of the Women in Contemporary Arab Art exhibition, Kutubna presents a unique writing experience guided by cultural practitioner and writer Tamreez Inam.
Together, we’ll explore the emotions, silences, and layered identities behind two deeply evocative paintings:
- The Bride by Amal Mulhem – a haunting portrayal of a bride at the threshold between tradition and transformation
- Lady in Blue Coat by Arif Rayess – a faceless, poised figure wrapped in color and ambiguity
Through writing prompts and guided reflection, you’ll enter their inner worlds, giving voice to what the eyes alone cannot tell.
What to expect
- A guided writing journey, open to all levels
- No writing experience required
- Materials will be provided
- Intimate, inclusive, and limited in capacity
