Join us for a unique literary morning with Mai Al-Nakib, acclaimed Kuwaiti author of The Hidden Light of Objects — winner of the Edinburgh International Book Festival’s First Book Award.

Moderated by writer and cultural practitioner Tamreez Inam, the event will include a conversation with the author, an audience Q&A, and a book signing session.

The Hidden Light of Objects is a stunning collection of short stories that captures the beauty and complexity of life in the modern Middle East. From childhood memories to the hidden weight of everyday objects, Al-Nakib’s writing is lyrical, poignant, and unforgettable.

About the author:
Mai Al-Nakib is a Kuwaiti author and former professor of literature at Kuwait University. Her work has been published in World Literature Today, BBC World Service, and more. She now writes full-time in Kuwait.

About the moderator:
Tamreez Inam is a UAE-based writer and speaker who works at the intersection of literature, identity, and community building. She is known for her thoughtful, inclusive approach to cultural storytelling.
